 Describe your business.
Sport-Clips is a national sports-themed, hair care franchise for men and boys. In a locker-room-themed environment, clients are surrounded by televisions with sporting events in tune.
What was your vision when you first started your business and what is it now?
When researching different franchises, we came across SportClips and were really impressed. Our vision is to create a work and store environment that is positive and full of energy.
What is the best part of doing business in this community?
When you open your own business, you are putting roots down and making a true commitment for the long haul. It’s nice to have that consistency.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
We are members of both the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park and El Dorado County Chambers of Commerce. Additionally, we plan to sponsor a number of sports-related organizations in the area. We also offer a “Business of the Week” display in the store.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
Our stylists average more than 15 years of experience and come into our business well trained. Their experience coupled with our corporate training program and sports environment gives guys the perfect place for a haircut.
What is the best thing about being the boss?
The flexibility to create our own environment and the opportunity to establish relationships for the betterment of the community.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
Everything we’ve set out to do in life, we’ve accomplished. Our goal has never been to have more money, a bigger house, fancy clothes or a new car, but more time to enjoy every day.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
Although there are many, Sir Richard Branson comes to mind as a person others can relate to. Whether the worst or best of news, he always delivers it with a smile.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
If required, we’ll head out for a run or a hike behind the house. Once we deal with the issue, we relax at home.

 Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
We offer complete screen-printing and embroidery. We have been friends since grammar school and have had this idea for a couple of years now, so we just decided to do it!
What was your vision when you first started your business, and what is it now?
We wanted to own our own business and enjoy what we do. It is exactly what we had envisioned.
What is the best part of doing business in this community?
Meeting new people and seeing our product locally.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
We created shirts for a very small private school’s dance recital. What did we learn? No job is too small!
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
We are involved with kids’ sports and activities.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
We are the staff, so each job gets 100 percent special attention.
What is the best thing about being the boss?
Making decisions that are in the best interest of our clients and business.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
Starting this successful business.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
Each other. We accomplish anything we set our minds to.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
We go to our families. Family is extremely important to both of us.
